startled awake
by the sound of a snowplow

snow continues...
      a flock of robins
            draws me out

the joint of a twig
snowman's wry smile

new year's eve
cat on my lap
we watch the snow


a virtual toast
to haiku friends

pieces of candy cane
swept from the floor

one more day
to put off the wrapping
