a coyote watches


storm past
the plow-kissed mailbox
lies in a drift


morning sun...
a bucket of kitty litter
to hold up the mailbox


winter afternoon
neighborhood cats
bewildered
startled awake
by the sound of a snowplow
--again?


snow continues...
      a flock of robins
            draws me out
the joint of a twig
snowman's wry smile
new year's eve
cat on my lap
we watch the snow


a virtual toast
to haiku friends
--new year's eve
the day after...
pieces of candy cane
swept from the floor
one more day
to put off the wrapping
christmas eve eve
