Today is also ending--
at the bottom of the snowstorm
the gigantic sun

Tonight

Venus and Jupiter
bright beads threaded on the
orbital plane
waning moon
slowly turns his
face away
a full moon
painting the frost
coated streets

crescent moon rises
bright –like a bar of light through
 a crack in a door

driving through the night
Mars and Orion to guide us
safely home

Adorned

the moon in her hair
and Venus – a bright bead of light
upon her neck
last night bright
Venus shone down upon all
my wounds, my scars
we’ll be watching films
projected onto the black face
of the new moon

two full moons
rising - double glazed from an
upper window
in the hollows
a pond cradled
in snow and ice
a ribbon
of silver river -
sky mirror
driving home
ravens gather
in the tall trees,
their rasping cries echoing
from the shadows of winter woods
on sunken fields
grey water
white gulls radiant
still raining hard -
I’m caught in a soggy
old fishing net
my longing
for a distant land
forgiveness
under my feet
a black sludge
of dead leaves
February
in the jewel blue sky
a flood light sun
above black branches
caught on the wind
the clouds

thanks Rachel

for Beatrice

I'm startled by the
iron chimes of church bells
echoing off the moon
cold rain rippling
across the slow
brown river
